What are the responsibilities and job description for the Children's Ministry Specialist position at The Grove Church?
Overview:
The Grove Kids Specialist for Sunday will play a pivotal role in creating an engaging, dynamic, and safe environment for kids (birth-4th grade) and their families. This person will be a visible, assertive leader with strong communication skills and charisma, someone who can confidently engage children in large group settings, interact with parents, and ensure a safe and welcoming environment throughout the ministry. This role is designed to complement and strengthen the existing Sunday morning team and contribute to the overall mission of The Grove Church.
Key Responsibilities:
Sunday Activities & Leadership:
o Lead and engage kids during large group activities, worship, and teaching time.
o Implement creative, fun, and interactive experiences that align with The Grove Kids mission and values.
o Take ownership of the Sunday morning flow, ensuring that all activities run smoothly, and that the environment is safe, welcoming, and engaging.
Family Connections & Engagement:
o Foster strong, positive relationships with both children and their families.
o Actively engage with parents, offering support and guidance as they seek to raise their children in faith.
o Communicate effectively with families, ensuring that they feel supported and connected to the ministry.
Classroom Safety & Volunteer Coordination:
o Oversee classroom environments, ensuring they are properly set up, safe, and ready for the weekend services.
o Lead and train volunteers to effectively care for children, ensuring they are equipped and supported in their roles.
o Ensure safety protocols are followed, and volunteers are aware of and prepared for emergency procedures.
Ministry Growth & Outreach:
o Build relationships with new families and create opportunities for them to get involved in the life of The Grove.
o Help create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and new families, making sure they feel comfortable and connected.
Qualifications:
Experience:
o Previous experience working with children in educational or ministry settings is preferred.
o Strong understanding of child development (birth-4th grade) and the ability to connect with children at various developmental stages.
Skills & Abilities:
o Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both kids and adults.
o Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team of volunteers.
o Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and maintain a calm, organized demeanor in fast-paced environments.
o Assertive in managing safety and discipline while maintaining a welcoming and positive environment.
