Activity Assistant Shift : M-F 9-4pm with a weekend rotation.
Activity Assistant Job Summary : Activity Assistant a ssists the Activity Director in the implementation of a quality activity program by motivating others and emphasizing teamwork.
Activity Assistant Requirements :
- Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent
- Must be able to work varied hours – including nights, weekends and holidays, when necessary
- Must acquire a minimum of ten(10) hours in-service training per year, relating to recreation / activities
Activity Assistant Duties :
Assist residents to, from and with activities to enable maximum participation.Record activity attendance and participation in both group and individual programs.Lead assigned groups and individual activities.Assist to maintain volunteer records.Coordinate arts and crafts program for all levels of residents.Review resident activity care plan and assist in providing activities consistent with the plan.Assist in seasonal and holiday decorating of facility.Provide each resident with a current activity calendar.Assist in maintaining an on-going program for resident birthday recognition.Participate in community outings and special events as requested.Escort residents to outside appointments, as needed.Help stock and monitor resident store, as needed.Report resident incidents and accidents to the nurse immediately. Do not move the resident until a nurse can assess for injury. Supervisory staff may request a written statement regarding any observations of incident.Report personal injuries to the Office Manager, or designee, no matter how minor they may seem.Report any suspected or observed resident abuse to the Administer, or designee, immediately. This includes : resident-to-resident, staff-to-residentand visitor-to-residentAny abusive behavior exhibited by a resident to a staff member or visitor should be
reported to the nurse for appropriate follow-up.
Observe and report needed repairs and service issues, such as broken, defective, or lost equipment and environmental issues.Attend all departmental meetings and / or inservices as required. Responsible for obtaining any information provided at missed meetings / inservices.All other duties as assigned by the Activity Director.Our people and our residents are at the center of our universe.
