Position Summary :
The Sr. Accountant at The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (GW MFA) plays a vital role in supporting financial reporting and operations by preparing accurate reports to monitor the organization's assets, liabilities, and profit and loss. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards while maintaining the integrity of MFA's financial records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
- Prepare, reconcile, and analyze assigned general ledger accounts with a strong understanding of the GAAP accounting principals.
- Complete monthly journal entries and supplemental schedules.
- Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Support the annual audit process by preparing tasks and providing requested documentation.
- Research and prioritize key issues to support informed decision-making.
- Serve as a backup for other team roles, as needed.
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects with the Accounting and Finance team.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, standards, and regulations.
Preferred Skills and Experience :
We strongly prefer candidates with experience in larger roles that encompass the full accounting cycle. Ideal candidates will have expertise in :
EOM (End of Month), EOQ (End of Quarter), and EOY (End of Year) processes
Experience supporting Controllers and CFOs is a plus.
