What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bridge Carpenter Foreperson position at The H&K Group?
Structures Division, a division of the H&K Group, Inc., is seeking a Bridge Carpenter Foreperson to lead and direct activities of the crew constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all work according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
- Read blueprints and job-related documents to plan work properly
- Record daily events in a job diary
- Schedule materials, equipment, and work for the crew
- Develop crew SIP's and submit to site Foreperson
- Track daily quantities and submit to site Foreperson
- Conduct daily huddles with the crew to establish daily production goals
- Communicate effectively and lead by example
- Influence and enforce company values, recognizing misalignments and rectifying them
- Train and mentor crew members to enhance their skills and knowledge
- Communicate with customer representatives and inspectors professionally
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or one year of related experience and/or training
- Working knowledge and ability to safely and efficiently understand and direct carpentry crews
- Ability to read blueprints and job-related documents
- Ability to operate surveying instruments and shoot elevations and straight lines
- Experience with pile driving and drilling equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills, including internet, email, and digital cameras for work documentation
