Role and Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the payroll process for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate payroll distribution.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations related to payroll and employment taxes.
- Utilize the CMiC system to manage and streamline payroll functions effectively.
- Ensure accuracy of various payroll deductions related to multiple craftworker unions and other employee groups.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Communicate proactively with employees regarding payroll inquiries, ensuring clear and timely responses.
- Prepare, analyze, and present payroll reports to management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting timelines.
- Collaborate with HR and finance departments to streamline payroll processes and improve overall efficiency.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax reports, ensuring the timely payment of payroll taxes and related obligations.
Additional duties
- Stay updated on changes to tax laws and regulations to minimize risk, ensuring compliance and best practices.
- Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures that adhere to regulations while improving efficiency.
- Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll and taxation, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned, supporting overall department objectives.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations related to payroll.
- Proficiency in CMiC software is preferred; experience in additional accounting software is a plus.
- Experience in the construction industry is desirable but not mandatory.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities efficiently.
