What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatics Director at Preschool Day Camp position at The Hampton Synagogue?
Camp Mona, located at The Hampton Synagogue in beautiful Westhampton Beach, is seeking a mature, responsible, and experienced Aquatics Director who meets all NYS Department of Health requirements or is willing to meet them before camp begins, to provide campers ages 2-5 with a safe, fun, and exciting camp experience. Camp runs from June 23, 2025 to August 29, 2025.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily aquatic activities in accordance with the Camp Safety Plan
- Ensure the safety of all campers
- Manage and supervise staff while fostering a positive environment for children
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of aquatic facilities and equipment
- Provide first aid and emergency response as needed
Qualifications
You must:
1. be at least 21 years of age;
2. have a minimum of:
(i) one season of previous experience as a camp aquatics director at a New York State children's camp; or
(ii) two seasons of previous experience consisting cumulatively of at least 12 weeks as a children's camp lifeguard at a swimming pool or bathing beach which had more than one lifeguard supervising it at a time; or
(iii) at least 18 weeks of previous experience as a lifeguard at a swimming pool or bathing beach which had more than one lifeguard supervising it at a time;
3. possess current certification:
(i) as a progressive swimming instructor; or
(ii) as a qualified lifeguard, possessing deep water lifeguard certification; or
(iii) in a training course for lifeguard supervision and management that meets DOH requirements
4. have successfully completed a training course in lifeguard supervision and management that meets DOH requirements
5. have reviewed and documented the review of the camp’s safety plan for swimming; and
6. possess a current certificate in an acceptable cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training program

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-3:00pm
