We are in search of Middle School Activity Leaders for our Summer Camp Program!!
Estimated hourly range: $17.95 - $24.25/hour

We offer an academically focused K - 5 Summer Camp; the Summer Institute for Middle and High School-aged students; and our English Language Institute for international students. Position Summary
Provide a positive environment for summer students to learn and develop skills and have fun! Plan and supervise appealing student activities that contribute to summer goals and individual student development. The AP (Activity Program) Leader is responsible for planning, teaching and overseeing activities during the AP program. In addition, he/she shall be responsible and for maintaining the physical and emotional safety of the students. All AP leaders will be responsible for general campus supervision as well as participation in planning and implementing the summer AP program as a whole. Hours of work are Monday - Friday; 9:30 am - 5:30 pm. Plus training days as scheduled, Opening Day, Special Events.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age and have completed one year of college.
- Hold current certification in both first aid and CPR. The employer will provide opportunities for training and certification for new hires.
- Must have prior experience working with children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct activities that promote student self-esteem and encourage student success.
- Provide opportunities for each student to meet the established goals of the program.
- Set a good example for students and others including, punctuality, dress, language and behavior.
- Plan and instruct age and skill appropriate activities in various areas, for group and special activities.
- Complete planning sheets for activities, to be approved by Activities Director.
- Maintain the equipment used in activities and assure its safe storage.
- Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings.
- Supervise in scheduled areas as needed throughout the day.
- Assist in the setup of program before opening day and in the break down of the program on closing day.
- Plan for the safe operation of the program and the safety of all participants
Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
- Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels), and provide necessary direction and instruction to students.
- Ability to communicate and train students in safety regulations and emergency procedures.
- Abilities to observe student behavior, assess appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the position.
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and emergency responses.
- Cognitive and communication abilities to plan and conduct the activity to achieve camper development objectives.
Working Conditions
- May be subject to extended periods of time standing or walking.
- Majority of time may be spent outside resulting in exposure to extremes in either heat or cold as weather and temperatures vary.
- Lift equipment/supplies weighing 20 pounds.
- Stand up and reach, bend down to interact with children
- No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and emergency responses.
- Cognitive and communication abilities to safely supervise and manage students while at play.
