We are searching for Lower School Activity Program - Group Leaders for our Summer Camp Program!!
Estimated hourly range: $21.25 - $25.00/hour

We offer an academically focused K - 5 Summer Camp; the Summer Institute for Middle and High School-aged students, and our English Language Institute for international students. Position Summary
Provide a positive environment for campers to learn and develop lifelong skills. Plan and supervise camper activities that contribute to camp goals and individual camper development. The group leader is responsible for planning, teaching and overseeing activities of their individual group. In addition, he/she shall be responsible and for maintaining the physical and emotional safety of the campers. All group leaders will be responsible for general camp supervision as well as evaluating campers, junior staff and the camp program itself.
Qualifications
Requirements, Essential Duties and Responsibilities that are listed below are for Group Leader's and Specialist's
- Must be 18 years of age and have completed one year of college.
- Hold current certification in both first aid and CPR.
- Must have prior experience working with children
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Help activity group develop as a cooperative unit.
- Plan and conduct activities that promote camper self-esteem and encourage camper success.
- Provide opportunities for each camper to meet the established goals of the camp.
- Set a good example for campers and others including, punctuality, dress, language and behavior.
- Plan and instruct age and skill appropriate activities in various areas, for group and special interest activities.
- Complete weekly planning sheet for group activities, to be approved by Program Director.
- Maintain the equipment used in their activities and assure its safe storage.
- Participate in evening program as scheduled.
- Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings.
- Complete evaluations on camp activities, programs, and peers.
- Oversee and evaluate counselors and CITs assigned to their group or activity.
- Assist in the setup of camp before opening day and in the break down of camp on closing day.
- Plan for the safe operation of the camp and the safety of all participants
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise in scheduled areas as needed throughout the day.
- Supervise on field trips
Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
- Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels), and provide necessary direction and instruction to campers.
- Ability to communicate and train campers in safety regulations and emergency procedures.
- Abilities to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the position.
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and emergency responses.
- Cognitive and communication abilities to plan and conduct the activity to achieve camper development objectives.
Working Conditions
- May be subject to extended periods of time standing or walking.
- Majority of time may be spent outside resulting in exposure to extremes in either heat or cold as weather and temperatures vary.
- Lift equipment/supplies weighing 20 pounds.
- Stand up and reach, bend down to interact with children
- No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and emergency responses.
- Cognitive and communication abilities to safely supervise and manage students while at play.
