The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of legal practice experience handling tort defense cases, a JD from an accredited law school, and a license to practice in the state of Texas. First-chair jury trial experience is required. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude, with strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required.

Responsibilities
This position will involve:
- Analyzing complex legal and factual issues, conducting extensive research, and developing well-reasoned defense strategies on behalf of clients.
- Independently creating and presenting defense strategies on behalf of clients.
- Preparing complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies with autonomy.
- Partnering with Claims Partners to achieve the best results for Hartford insureds.
- Providing effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients on legal and factual issues.
- Communicating with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel with professional diplomacy and discretion.
- Facilitating prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases.
- Independently preparing and presenting witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolutions.
- Researching, drafting, filing, and arguing substantive motions on behalf of clients.
- Providing in-house training to junior associates and/or claims partners.
- Attending continuing legal education seminars to maintain high levels of professional expertise.
