What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Director position at The Hidden Genius Project?
POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:
The Regional Director will operate in Baltimore and Philadephila and is the anchor for effective coordination and implementation of The Hidden Genius Project’s core strategy and operations in a specific region. As the organization continues to grow, this individual serves as the daily flag-bearer ensuring quality, creativity, and integrity as the organization advances its mission to elevate Black boys and young men as dynamic leaders in their communities. The Regional Director is instrumental to its region's external programming, including Catalyst events, Community Partner Programs, and various capacity-building activities for overall operational excellence. Additionally, this leader will need to be agile and able to not only hold space for the current needs of the organization in their region but must also be able to execute and action needs as they develop.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Region Success
- Establish and manage regional office operations to oversee and ensure the consistent success of the sites within a dedicated region.
- Continually evolve the region and adapt to the current climate through collaborative approaches with senior leadership, site leadership, and an active roadmap inclusive of the organization's vision for that region.
In partnership with senior leadership, provide site staff with guidance and hands-on support to accomplish their strategic goals including the coordination and execution of hiring, training, and performance development.
Maintain and Strengthen Operations
Responsible for bringing the program vision to life consistently at the highest level of excellence and at all sites within a dedicated region. This will require intentional support of processes, resources, and being aware of each team's capacity, allowing for proper setup and effective delivery of programming (including venue, support resources, equipment, etc.) across all programmatic components.
Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders focused on curriculum and instruction to ensure program designs are exciting, innovative, and effective.
Identify trends and best practices pertaining to quarterly or annual programmatic needs and collaborate with the team to implement a strategy to support the region's programming. Collect and analyze key program metrics to inform and operationalize improvements.
Manage a regional programs calendar, to include regional staff meetings. Supports local sites in managing their own respective program calendar
Manage regional program budget for a region’s programming, including Catalyst and Community Partner Programming. Works closely with site management to manage budgets.
Collaborate with key team leadership members to ensure that staffing remains adequate across the region and that The Hidden Genius Project staff and volunteers receive adequate training on relevant content and methods.
Establish a regular cadence of in-person attendance and support of programming within the dedicated region, to ensure quality and offer guidance to team members.
Collaborate with staff from programs, development, and operations teams to produce data and narratives to support grant reports, annual reporting, Board meetings, and other key retrospective collateral. Participate, support, and work to advance fundraising efforts both regionally and centrally.
When engaging young people, develop rich one-to-one connections with Hidden Geniuses and youth participants in general. Effectively train staff to be able to excel in this area.
Steward relationships with external stakeholders to grow capacity-building activities for partner organizations. Serve as an energetic ambassador for The Hidden Genius Project by participating in media opportunities, conferences, panels, community events, and other opportunities to advance the visibility and credibility of the organization.
Identify and participate in relevant public advocacy opportunities related to policy issues and social causes that stand to advance the organization’s mission. Also works closely with community organizations/systems/agencies to establish partnerships centered on licensing curriculum platforms for capacity-building purposes.
Support and participate in processes to solicit participant and parent/guardian feedback to guide responsive programmatic improvements to maximize participant enjoyment and success.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Excellent leadership abilities
A minimum of five years of social impact program experience
At least five years of program management experience, three of them being across a region
- Passionate approach to work that defies norms to elevate our mission and vision
Significant experience managing budgets (including building, tracking, and/or forecasting programs and departmental budgets)
High comfort level with technology

ROLE OVERVIEW:
Role Location: Regional Director, this role must be located near one of our East Coast sites:
Baltimore, Maryland
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Reports to: Chief Programs Officer
Status: Exempt
Schedule: Full Time (minimum 40 hours per week); Ideal hire timeline is March 2025; working evenings and weekends, as needed
