Job Title: Billing Specialist
The duties and responsibilities of a Billing Specialist include sending invoices and account updates to clients. Receiving, tracking incoming payments, addressing and resolving client questions and issues relating to invoices, and providing regular, accurate reports of billing data.
- Creating invoices to be sent directly to a client or client family
- Billing all the state home care program clients
- Completing long term care paperwork and sending to appropriate company
- Inputting payment history, upcoming payment information or other financial data into an individual account
- Informing clients of any missed or upcoming payment deadlines
- Strong communication, including writing, speaking and active listening
- Great customer service skills, including interpersonal conversation, patience and empathy
- Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Basic math, bookkeeping and accounting skills
- Organization, time management and prioritization abilities
- Ability to be discreet and maintain the security of client information
- Effective computer skills to use Quickbooks Online and Santrax software in a timely and efficient manner
- Understanding of industry-specific policies, such as HIPAA regulations for health care
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
- Knowledge of Quickbooks
- Proficient in using billing software and electronic health record systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
