The Data Analyst will provide support for QA department testing, inspection, and evaluation practices as well as support functions related to materials, production, and incident management.  Assists with planning and implementing food safety programs, such as but not limited to, analytical and micro testing, material coordination, non-conforming products, allergen testing compliance, HACCP, Sanitation, and QMS.  Initiate and complete food safety incident investigations by using root cause analysis. Complete routine auditing of practices and documentation as assigned as well as review of training, records, and documentation.  Complete validation and verification studies of the food safety programs.  Complete additional projects related to quality improvements or cost-saving initiatives as assigned.  Strong leadership, organizational, and technical skills are required for this position. This position creates, maintains, and supports Quality Master Data for all products across our portfolio. This position will utilize technical tools to analyze and measure data quality and develop action plans to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance. SCOPE OF POSITION Collect and analyze data from multiple food manufacturing facilities and suppliers to support quality and operational goals. Evaluate finished products. Support mock recalls and track resulting corrective actions. Travel up to 25% to co-manufacturers and suppliers to execute projects, collect data and perform audits. Independently identify trends and actionable opportunities from data analysis. Stay informed of industry trends and technological advances to improve the data collection and analysis process as well as operational improvements. Collect finished goods samples from co-manufacturers, conduct trade surveys and report findings. Assist with supplier and co-manufacturer corrective actions (SCARs and CAPAs), tracking progress and reporting on trends. Track Controlled Process Changes (CPCs) and report on identified trends. Utilize technology to support Quality Assurance activities. Maintain knowledge of AAFCO Rules, federal, state, and international pet food regulations. Perform other duties to support the Quality team and stakeholders. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (“What are we looking for?”) Pet or human-food manufacturing experience is required. Must have direct experience working in food manufacturing. Must have excellent data analysis skills and be knowledgeable of statistical process control methods. Must be comfortable with technology and adaptable to new software platforms. Must be punctual and dependable. Ability to work individually and in a team. Excellent attention to detail. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to use independent judgment and problem-solving skills. High integrity and good judgment. Ability to manage schedules and stay on task. Must love animals and be passionate about their health. Qualifications / Technical Expertise Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word Understanding of food safety including GMPs, SOPs, and HACCP Understanding of product development and food manufacturing processes SQF practitioner and PCQI preferred REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE (“What are we looking for?”) Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality data analysis role within food manufacturing. Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Food Science, Food Law, Chemistry, or Animal Science is preferred (Equivalent education or work experience might be substituted). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This role is performed mainly in an office or remote environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% or more of the time. Must be able to observe for long periods. Must be able to move around manufacturing environments. Must be able to observe details at close range. Occasionally move items that weigh up to 35 pounds.
