The Accounts Receivable Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the company’s credit and collections process to ensure the timely and efficient collection of outstanding receivables. This role involves managing customer credit risk, optimizing cash flow, and maintaining positive relationships with clients. The manager works closely with various departments, including finance, sales, and customer service, to support the organization’s financial goals.


Key Responsibilities

Credit Management:

  • Establish and enforce credit policies and procedures.
  • Assess and approve customer credit limits and terms based on financial statements, credit reports, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor customer accounts for potential credit risks and take preventive action.

Collections Oversight:

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and prioritize collections efforts for overdue accounts.
  • Negotiate payment plans or settlements with customers, as necessary.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the credit and collections team.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team performance.
  • Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.

Customer Relations:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated credit or collections issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers while enforcing payment terms.
  • Address disputes and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate and analyze reports on accounts receivable performance, collections efficiency, and credit risk exposure.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on cash flow and key metrics.
  • Identify trends and make recommendations to improve credit and collections processes.

Process Improvement:

  • Review and refine credit and collections workflows for greater efficiency.
  • Collaborate with IT and finance teams to leverage technology for automation and process enhancement.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures.

Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and reconciliations.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to mitigate risks.


Qualifications and Skills:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field Or

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in credit and collections or accounts receivable.
  • 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., VIP) and collections management software.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet deadlines.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Work Environment:

  • Operates in an office setting.
  • May involve occasional travel for customer visits or industry events.
