Responsibilities
- The primary responsibility of this position is to drive direct sales to customers and prospective customers at their business locations. While duties may vary by account, employees are expected to perform the following tasks related to outside sales:
- Meet directly with key customer personnel to drive sales growth, increase distribution of National Brands, and achieve volume goals in the assigned area.
- Develop the sales territory by proactively prospecting for new accounts through regular outside sales visits.
- Create a tailored sales plan for each call to meet the company's volume and distribution objectives.
- Anticipate customer objections and develop strategies to address them effectively.
- Conduct sales call on scheduled days and minimize the need for customer follow-up calls.
- Provide excellent service and merchandising (as appropriate) to all accounts to enhance the corporate brand's image.
- Stay informed about product offerings and promotional programs to effectively communicate with customers.
- Ensure that all products in accounts are saleable and within code dates.
- Maintain or increase shelf space and facings for all brands and products according to company standards.
- Secure secondary displays or promotional wings for all relevant marketing activities.
- Ensure that all authorized products are distributed on every visit.
- Identify and report problems or competitive activities observed during visits.
- Follow company guidelines and address product complaints or recalls promptly.
- Follow up on special requests, such as grand openings or banner requests.
- Notify the vending department of any upcoming or known customer closures to retrieve equipment.
- Retrieve voicemail messages twice daily and respond promptly to customer requests.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key personnel at customer accounts.
- Properly completely new account forms and submit all required paperwork, including state tax-exempt forms, daily.
- Maintain accurate sales records and submit paperwork on time.
- Ensure assigned company property and equipment are kept clean and well-maintained, reporting any malfunctions immediately.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- A minimum of two years of successful sales and/or customer contact experience, ideally in a field sales or customer-facing role.
- Proven ability to drive sales growth and meet or exceed sales targets.
- Experience in prospecting, developing, and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
- Ability to identify customer needs and effectively present products or solutions to meet those needs.
- Experience with sales planning and execution, including managing sales territory and developing strategies to achieve goals.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts, sales calls, and schedules efficiently.
- Familiarity with the sales process, from lead generation through to closing and post-sale follow-up.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve company objectives.
- Proficient in using office equipment, including computers, phones, fax machines, copiers, and calculators.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Additional certifications or training in sales, marketing, or customer service may be beneficial.
- Ongoing education or professional development in sales techniques and industry-specific knowledge is a plus.

- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
