What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeping position at The House of The Good Shepherd?
M-F 8-4pm
Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities: Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in the assigned program or physical plant location in accordance with agency policy and procedures with a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of clients, staff and visitors.
Principal Assigned Responsibilities:
l. General cleaning to include bathrooms, kitchen/cooking areas, living and dining areas, bedrooms, hallways, closets and offices.
- Periodic cleaning of all internal walls, ceilings, pipes, fans, ventilation systems, lights and light fixtures, doors and windows as needed to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
- Clean bathrooms, including bathroom sinks, bathtubs, shower walls, mirrors, soap dispensers, wash and sanitize toilets and bathroom floors, clean stall doors and partitions.
- Spot clean walls, doors jams, trim molding, light switches, etc.
- Vacuum and spot clean carpets and upholstered furniture; schedule thorough cleaning for carpets and upholstered furniture with vendor identified by the Director of Maintenance.
- Dust and wax furniture.
- Disinfect bedroom between a resident discharge and next admission, and as assigned.
- Clean entrance glass, mirrors and windows.
- Empty waste receptacles and separate recyclables.
- Keep entryways and exit doors free of snow and ice.
- Replace paper products and maintain supply inventory.
- Clean and sanitize all cleaning supplies including buckets, mops, sponges, and spray bottles.
- Identify and report dangerous physical plant conditions & items requiring repair.
- Secure building at end of shift.
- Additional housekeeping tasks as requested by program supervisor.
- Active participation in department and agency-wide Quality Assessment and Improvement activities in accordance with the agency's ongoing Quality Improvement Program.
Education & Experience Requirements:
l. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two years of related experience preferred.
3. Valid NYS driver's license.
