The Adoption Manager’s role is to provide oversight to Lollypop Farm’s Adoption team and adoption operations at all Lollypop Farm locations. This position is responsible for creating an excellent customer experience and ensuring a high success rate of placements through mindful matchmaking and follow-up support. The Adoptions Manager is a champion of building and maintaining an Adopters Welcome culture within the organization.
Essential Job Duties :
- Provides compassionate care to all animals in the shelter using Fear Free techniques. Capable of handling multiple species and understands different animal behaviors.
- Assists with implementing and overseeing special Adoptions programs, including Sleepover foster-to-adoptions, Web Adoptions from foster homes, and satellite and other off-site adoptions.
- Manages the Adoptions team of supervisors and counselors. Ensures a high level of professionalism and customer service to the team and other staff, volunteers, clients, and visitors to Lollypop Farm.
- Participates in staffing decisions, as well as the interview, selection, and hiring process for the Adoptions team. Develops and delivers the training plan for new hires with the Training Coordinator.
- Ensures adequate staffing and volunteer support for the department, as well as assigns duties and evaluates the team for effectiveness. Provides coaching and disciplinary action as needed.
- Works with the Training Coordinator to provide training opportunities for the department.
- Fields customer concerns relating to Adoptions or other alternative placements.
- Models and coaches the Adopters Welcome culture through understanding and empathy, avoiding judgement toward adopters, visitors, and other community members, setting an example to the Adoption team in embracing open-adoption practices.
- Works with the Behavior Team to learn about and meet pets with specific needs. Supports the Adoption team in working with these pets.
- Collaborates with the Communications team to ensure adoption profiles are updated with pictures and details.
- Maintains SOPs for department processes.
- Ensures the adoption areas are well-maintained, organized, and clean.
- Performs adoptions including conducting matchmaking, answering inquiries, showing animals, and completing adoption paperwork as needed.
- Performs opening and closing duties as assigned.
- Performs euthanasia as necessary.
- Observes all safety rules and regulations for self and others.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable state and federal laws.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements :
Education & Experience : High School diploma or equivalent education. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred. Two years of customer service experience strongly preferred. Two – five years of animal experience is strongly preferred. One year of leadership experience is preferred, including the responsibility of training staff and / or working with volunteers. Certified in humane euthanasia or capable of becoming certified. A combination of education and experience will be considered if aligned with the position.
Skills : Highly organized with strong communication and record keeping skills. Strong interpersonal skills with a positive, dynamic, engaging personality. Skilled in delivering clear, concise, accurate, and timely communications. Able to work calmly and effectively in a noisy and busy environment. Able to prioritize tasks and adapt to change.
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position during shift, move throughout the building and move weight up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to communicate with others. Occasionally required to move excessive weight.
