The Humane Educator carries out the mission of Lollypop Farm by implementing impactful education programs that better the lives of animals. This position ensures the success of education programs through high-quality customer service, communication, and effective collaboration with colleagues and volunteers.
Schedule : 18 hours / week. Friday availability required.
Essential Job Duties
- Actively engages with people of all ages in a wide variety of curricula while ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment.
- Collaborates with colleagues and volunteers to provide high-quality, interactive educational programs that impact the lives of humans and animals alike (e.g., Classroom Visits, Camps, Petacular Parties, Shelter Helpers, Scout Workshops, Group Tours, Field Trips, Book Buddies, etc.). This includes material preparation, program set-up, and clean-up of these programs.
- Utilizes and promotes Fear-Free animal handling and positive reinforcement techniques when handling animals or incorporating animals into educational programming. Ensures the health, safety, and well-being of all parties involved.
- Accurately collects / documents program data (customer experience feedback, program stats, and anecdotes) to document impact.
- Provides support for Humane Education special events and public relations activities (i.e., Farm Day, Tails & Treats, etc.).
- Collaborate with colleagues on special projects as assigned to foster a culture of philanthropy.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable state and federal laws.
- Observe all safety rules and regulations for self and others.
- Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements :
Education / Experience : Associate's Degree in education or equivalent experience in youth service programs strongly preferred. Three years experience in customer service. Three years experience working with children. Experience with public presentations preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered if aligned with the position.
Skills : Ability to work effectively under pressure. Strong organizational skills. Ability to plan and organize presentations, communicating effectively before a group or one-on-one. Ability to create and implement new programs and / or methods to instill humane education values. Ability to interpret and comprehend instructions. Computer competency in Office programs and ability to learn shelter software.
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position during shift, move throughout the building and move weight up to 20 pounds. Frequently required to communicate with others. Occasionally required to move excessive weight.
