What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Relations Specialist position at The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies?
Reporting to the VP Director of Media Relations and Corporate Communications, the Media Relations Specialist is focused on internal communications, social media campaigns and graphics, digital communications, media coverage monitoring, and website content management efforts on behalf of The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Inc., one of the nation’s largest real estate and investment management companies. Candidates will be comfortable working in a team environment with executives at all levels to help develop messaging and communicate it to the marketplace via focused media campaigns, including press releases, pitching and building relationships with key members of the media, as well as maintaining content on the corporate website. The role also includes management of internal employee communications, ensuring all employees are informed of key business developments and accomplishments.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Write press releases, thought leadership pieces, website copy and social media content and manage media campaigns, including speaking engagements, for Inland member companies
Source news opportunities and pitch stories/executives to the media
Manage and write internal communications efforts
Create and assist with Inland’s digital presence, social media campaigns and initiatives
Compose internal employee weekly news postings
Copywriting and proofing internal/external communication materials
Update content on the corporate website
Manage the coordination of awards and rankings for Inland member companies
Assist the Director of Media Relations and Vice President of Media Relations
Requirements:
5 years of experience in communications, public relations or related field, preferably in either the commercial real estate or the commercial real estate investment industry.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Public Relations, Communications, Business or related field
Must have strong writing, proofing and editing abilities; experience in commercial real estate, finance and investments a plus
Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and complete a project from start-to-finish
Knowledge of AP style
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas simply and effectively.
Comfortable working with all levels of employees and executives
Familiarity with Hubspot and Drupal
Familiarity with national press release distribution services such as Business Wire
Familiarity with media databases such as Cision/Meltwater/Axios
Experience with Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and Canva
Familiarity with basic HTML a plus
Proficient with MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
