Position title: Garden Maintenance & Installation Technician
Department/group: Garden maintenance
Location: Middlebury, VT
Level/salary range: $18.00 - $25.00 / hr
Position type: Full time – Seasonal (April 1- Nov 15) 4 day work week (40 hours) with 5th day as required.
Role and responsibilities
- Maintaining and installing garden beds and annual pots on private and commercial properties.
- Working with landscape plans and the landscape designer during installation.
- Maintaining and installing trees & shrubs.
- This includes proper pruning, fertilizing and scouting for insects & diseases.
- Able to work within a team and/or independently. Can expect to work with owner and seasoned team members.
- Tasks may include:
- Edging
- Weeding
- Dead heading
- Mulching & composting
- Tracking time, equipment & materials used on job.
- Maintain safe and clean job sites.
Qualifications and education requirements
- Equivalent work experience preferred but will train the right person.
- Able to lift 40 lbs (upon occasion)
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Interest in landscaping
- Positive attitude
Preferred skills
- Working knowledge of woody and herbaceous plants
- Looking for a landscape career
