General Summary:
This position is responsible for managing the Regional business unit of North America. The position will work directly report to the Vice President of Operations and will work closely North American functional leadership (sales, marketing, operations, finance and merchandise).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
The Regional Director oversees all designated events in their area of North America, encompassing the various IRONMAN brands including side and ancillary events. Primary responsibilities are overall P and L performance for the region, portfolio and event management, ensuring events are operated in an effective, safe and consistent manner to IRONMAN’s standard level of excellence and day to day management of regional personnel.
P and L responsibility - Includes (but is not limited to) building, following and executing required regional budgets including overhead and event budgets. Position will work with North American functions (Global Partnerships, Marketing, Operations, Merchandise and Finance) to deliver agreed upon targets on an annual basis. Position will imbue a culture of performance and cost discipline in all areas of fiscal management.
Event execution/portfolio Management -Execute all events within the portfolio to the highest standard. This includes but is not limited to following global systems and procedures, timelines, safety and budgetary responsibility and policies set forth in the Global IRONMAN Operations Compliance Manual (GIOC) or other global documentation. Serve as the senior leader in the region at events and within event communities as required. The Regional Director is also responsible for driving growth opportunities in the assigned geographic region including but not limited to new events (organic and/or acquisition based), or other growth opportunities as applicable.
Day to day Office Management- Manage the day to day operations of the regional staff in the Region ensure all functions are operating properly. Provide leadership, guidance and direction for the rest of the region. Ensure employees are following all Corporate IRONMAN guidelines and that the office is operating in a clear, efficient and functional manner.
Stakeholder Management – Responsible for relationship management of all pertinent stakeholders at the city, state and federal level. This also includes relationship management with the local Convention and Visitors Bureau/Sports Commission and all financial aspects of any Host Venue Agreement.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
- The Regional Director is responsible to the Vice President of Operations, North America.
- The Regional Director will lead all regional staff working closely with Regional Functional Leadership (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Merchandise, etc.) and closely with the Vice President of Operations, North America. Needs to ensure all regional functions are running properly.
- Maintain overall P and L responsibility for his or her region and must ensure staff are executing against all revenue and cost targets.
- Responsible for management of Regional Marketing Manager (in parallel with Regional Marketing Head) do make sure all marketing related tasks are on track for region.
- The Regional Director works with the Operations Manager and Race Directors to manage key event relationships required to produce events in each community including but not limited to governmental officials, agencies at all levels, as well as key stakeholders for the events of the assigned region.
- The Regional Director will be responsible for managing the relationship and execution of licensed events in the assigned region to ensure that events are produced to appropriate Ironman standards. The Regional Director is also responsible for driving the event license renewal process with applicable licensees.
- The Regional Director will work with the Regional Sales Manager to ensure a robust and strong portfolio of corporate partnerships for the events in his or her region.
- The Regional Director will work North American Functional Leadership to conduct business planning, administration, and long-term strategic new event planning for the Region.
- The Regional Director will lead Host Venue Agreement tracking and renewal process for the region of North America.
- Evaluate and recommend business potential partnership opportunities for region as applicable.
- Provide additional leadership assistance during integration process as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
