The Compliance Director will lead ITEX’s affordable housing compliance program, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations across the portfolio. This role is responsible for managing a team of compliance auditors, overseeing audit readiness, regulatory risk management, and compliance training.
This position requires expertise in LIHTC, HUD, and other federally funded programs, along with strong leadership, process improvement, and risk mitigation skills. The Compliance Director will drive audit preparedness, regulatory updates, and compliance best practices across all ITEX communities.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
- Lead pre-audit file reviews and conduct internal compliance audits to ensure program requirements are met.
- Stay current on regulatory changes and implement policy updates across ITEX properties.
- Oversee responses to audits, MORs (Management & Occupancy Reviews), and inspections, ensuring timely resolution.
- Develop and enforce compliance policies and procedures to maintain consistency and accuracy.
- Ensure proper certification processes, lease-up compliance, utility allowance adjustments, and rent schedule adherence.
NSPIRE
Collaborate with on-site teams to review NSPIRE inspection scores and implement improvement plans.Provide training on NSPIRE standards to ensure teams understand compliance requirements.Oversee inspection coordination and regulatory uploads for all physical inspections.Support property teams in maintaining safe, well-documented, and compliant housing environments.Compliance Training and Leadership
Supervise and mentor a team of compliance auditors, ensuring best practices in compliance monitoring.Provide ongoing compliance training to Regional Managers, Property Managers, and Leasing Teams.Work cross-functionally with Operations, Property Management, and Finance to improve compliance processes.Oversee House Rules and Occupancy Standards enforcement across the portfolio.Operational Training and Team Leadership

Ensure timely subsidy payments and proper tracking of tenant recertifications.Oversee Yardi system configurations to maintain accurate compliance reporting and regulatory settings.Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to regulatory agencies.Implement tracking systems to monitor compliance performance, audit results, and corrective actions.EOE M / F / D / V
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Real Estate, or a related field (preferred).Industry Certifications (required or must be obtained within 9 months) : HCCP, TCS, COS
