Job Description: Phlebotomy/EKG Technician

Job Summary
The Phlebotomy/EKG Technician will be responsible for performing venipuncture and capillary puncture on adult and pediatric patients. They will also be required to instruct patients in all urine and stool collection procedures and testing requirements. The technician will perform standard EKG testing and other related exams on patients according to established standards and practices as required by each location. The technician will communicate in a manner that promotes clinic and laboratory professionalism as well as a comfortable phlebotomy experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture on adult and pediatric patients
- Instruct patients in all urine and stool collection procedures and testing requirements
- Perform standard EKG testing and other related exams on patients according to established standards and practices
- Communicate in a manner that promotes clinic and laboratory professionalism
- Ensure a comfortable phlebotomy experience for patients
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy or EKG technician training program
- Valid certification as a phlebotomist or EKG technician
- Experience performing venipuncture and capillary puncture on adult and pediatric patients
- Knowledge of urine and stool collection procedures and testing requirements
- Ability to perform standard EKG testing and other related exams on patients
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to promote clinic and laboratory professionalism
