PURPOSE:
This is a unique peer leadership opportunity for a resident to develop leadership and administrative skills that are beneficial to providing support and guidance to their own cohort. The Chief Social Work Resident (chief resident) will have a critical and important role in the Social Work Residency that would help lead quality improvements in the residency program.
The Jewish Board’s Community Behavioral Health treatment programs provide compassionate, high quality, evidence-based services to individuals and families in the communities we serve. Our staff use a culturally competent, person centered approach to help individuals and their families develop skills and resources to improve overall functioning, to instill hope, and to strengthen resiliency. Our programs work closely with community partners to address health disparities in our neighborhoods while also celebrating the strengths and resilience of our communities.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
In addition to the general responsibilities of a Behavioral Health Clinician, the Chief Social Work Resident (chief resident) will serve as a leader and liaison between residents and JB leadership. Becoming a Chief Resident offers valuable experience that is essential for future leadership roles. The Clinics offer the following services include, but not limited to: child, teen, adult, and family psychotherapy, emotional crisis intervention and stabilization, developing coping skills to manage mental health symptoms, addiction recovery, forging healthy relationships, managing sadness, worry and loss. The Chief Resident can support junior residents navigate challenges
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrate emerging leadership skills, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment within the Residency and The Jewish Board. Chief residents help with the orientation and integration of new residents into the program.
Manage various administrative tasks, including organizing, leading and participating in Residency programming.
Actively involved in the residency application/interview process.
Oversee the peer mentorship implementation for second year residents; providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality and effective learning experiences. Chief residents provide guidance and support to junior residents, helping them navigate the challenges of residency.
Work in collaboration with the Learning Department to teach and train residents in various foundational training to enhance the learning experience.
Serve as an advocate for their peers and the Residency; both internally and externally, including speaking engagements and community outreach and relations on behalf of the Residency and TJB. They participate in the recruitment process for new residents, including participating in interviews and evaluating candidates.
Conduct comprehensive evaluations and psychosocial assessments
Develop treatment plans in collaboration with clients and family members (as appropriate), to identify treatment needs and interventions and review/revise treatment plans to reflect client’s treatment progress and changing problems/goals
Provide individual, group, family, collateral treatment and crisis services/interventions
Be actively self-reflective & self-aware of how clinical and administrative practice impacts clients, families, and the communities we serve
Open to continuously learning, evolving and adapting social work practice
Liaison with families, schools, criminal justice, and other community agencies to coordinate care
Participate in clinical meetings, staff meetings, trainings, and supervision
Open and willing to receive constructive feedback
Maintain documentation according to the standards and time frames established by the Jewish Board, regulatory agencies and/or funding sources
Maintain professional behaviors and ethical standards as established by licensing board, relevant professional association and the Jewish Board policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES for the position include:
Current resident in good standing with HR

Consistently maintaining required caseload of percentage of time with clients/week

Strong clinical direct practice skills and knowledge of evidenced based practices

Strong communication skills are necessary for liaising between residents and faculty, resolving conflicts, and advocating for peers
EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING REQUIRED:
A Master’s degree in social work from an accredited program, (LMSW) is required
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:
Knowledge and experience with evidence-based approaches
Experience with/or interest in public speaking
Experience with documenting in electronic health records and using Microsoft Office software.
Experience with telehealth platforms a plus.
Fluency in a second language is preferred
COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:
Proficient with electronic health record; Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook); comfortable and proficient using audio video platforms (i.e., Zoom)
VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXIERITY:
The candidate should be able to read paper and electronic documents and perform significant data entry into various computer programs

The work environment involves no physical risk or hazardous conditions.
To perform the essential functions of this job, the candidate is routinely required to sit (90% of the time) and stand (10% of the time)
Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
