Job Summary
The Recreation Facilities Specialist reports to the Facilities Supervisor. As the Facilities Staff, this position will assist with the cleanliness of assigned areas, handling cleaning supplies, operating equipment, facilities maintenance in recreation areas and creating a safe environment for patrons and staff. The work may require flexible working hours that include evening and weekend responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities
- Evaluate and forecast facilities and maintenance issues and put solutions into action.
- Employ creative thinking and initiative around projects that upgrade the facility - offer ideas and create and implement action plans to improve the physical campus and elevate our guest experience.
- Be able to operate current cleaning systems used by the Jones Center.
- Communicate verbally and electronically with all facility operational departments to develop solutions to facilities related issues.
- Be able to plan own time effectively to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently.
- Be proficient on computer systems and know or learn internal systems.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.
- Assist the Facilities Director in all aspects of departmental responsibilities as requested.
- Responsible for efficient cleaning of designated areas.
- Follow the recommended safety measures while handling supplies, operating cleaning equipment, and lifting furniture and equipment.
- Conduct efficient set-up and take-down of furniture and equipment as scheduled by providers or staff.
- Complete cleaning requests in a timely manner.
- Keep equipment and storage areas in order and secure.
- Report any misuse of furnishings or service areas.
- Understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and procedures; review safety guidelines on a regular basis and as needed. (know all locations of MSDS Sheets)
- Uphold the policies and procedures of the Center. Will be lifting and moving chairs and furniture repeatedly during the shift.

Education, Training, and Experience
- High School or equivalent.
- A minimum of 1 year of facility maintenance.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain stationary, occasionally standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
