About The Role
Our client, a Fortune 100 distributor, is seeking a Sr. Warehouse Operations Manager to lead their warehouse operations in the Metro NYC/Newark area. This will report directly to the Assistant General Manager.
As Sr. Warehouse Operations Manager, you will oversee all warehouse functions, ensuring the seamless flow of products from receiving to shipping. You will manage a dedicated team, including three direct reports (Operations Manager, Dayshift Manager, and Nightshift Manager), along with 8-10 Warehouse Supervisors and 275-300 hourly employees.

Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management: Supervise and develop a large team, ensuring high performance, professionalism, and motivation through effective staffing, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Safety & Compliance: Promote a culture of safety by enforcing company safety programs, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.
- Operational Efficiency: Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring accurate and timely shipping, receiving, and inventory management to meet business and customer needs.
- Inventory & Stock Management: Collaborate with inventory teams to maintain accurate stock counts, manage stock shortages, and coordinate returns of obsolete products.
- Building & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure warehouse facilities and equipment are well-maintained for operational efficiency and workplace safety.
- Customer Service Excellence: Work closely with internal teams to communicate stock availability, shortages, and alternatives to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Process Improvement & Performance Optimization: Utilize WMS and LMS systems to drive efficiency, improve workflow processes, and enhance overall operational performance.
- Education: High School Diploma/GED required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of warehouse operations experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role (Foodservice Distribution experience is a major plus!).
- Expertise in Warehouse Operations: Strong knowledge of Shipping, Receiving, Order Selection, Loading, and Unloading.
- Leadership & Development Skills: Proven ability to train, coach, and develop warehouse teams to drive high performance.
- Safety-Focused Mindset: A strong track record in safety compliance (OSHA Certification is highly desirable).
- Financial & Process Improvement Acumen: Understanding of financial implications of warehouse operations and a track record of optimizing workflows.
- Tech-Savvy: Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and LMS (Labor Management Systems).
- Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate across departments and lead diverse teams.
