The expected ENTRY pay range for this position is expected to be $22.35 to $24.25 per hour.

This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position

The Court Administration Lead provides guidance and leadership to staff that provides case processing, case flow management, and administrative tasks in support of the Criminal Department's efforts to work in collaboration with other criminal justice agencies to efficiently resolve cases in a just manner, respecting the rights of defendants, victims, and the community. This specific recruitment will serve the Early Disposition Court (EDC) within the Criminal Department.

Position Qualifications

Education :

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience :

  • Three (3) years of experience in a related environment that requires the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of this position as listed
  • Combined Education and Experience Qualifications :

  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis
  • Our Preferred Candidate Has :

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy or related field
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

    Knowledge of :

  • State Constitution of Arizona, Arizona Criminal Court rules, policies and procedures
  • Legal terminology and the legal requirements of processing court documents
  • Customer service standards and practices
  • Skill in :

  • The use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership and coordinating the work of subordinates.
  • Relationship building and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Ability to :

  • Multitask and cope with a high volume of work.
  • Work in a time-critical work environment.
  • Essential Job Tasks

  • Assists with supervision of EDC staff including Judicial Assistants and Courtroom Assistants.
  • Communicates issues, concerns and situations impacting the unit to supervisor.
  • Oversees the work of assigned staff on department policies and procedures.
  • Assists with hiring, evaluations, and developing of performance management plans when necessary.
  • Covers staff responsibilities when necessary.
  • Participates in training of new hires, including reviewing and maintaining training logs.
  • Performs a variety of customer service / administrative duties which may include answering questions from staff, court personnel and the public (in person and by phone).
  • Performs data entry and case research in iCIS.
  • Reviews, audits, and updates calendar logs.
  • Updates and maintains unit training manuals.
  • Assists with facilitating Teams and one-on-one meetings with staff.
  • Timekeeping responsibilities of assigned staff.
  • May perform supervisory functions in the absence of a supervisor.
  • Working Conditions :

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may be required to move or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

    Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

    The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.     Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position may be reassigned to other locations. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
