Overview
The School Counselor plays a vital role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development within the educational environment. This position involves working closely with students, parents, and faculty to foster a positive school climate and facilitate student success. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, approachable, and dedicated to promoting the well-being of all students while addressing their diverse needs. This position is in collaboration with 2 other full-time counselors for a total population of approximately 65 students.
Duties
- Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, social, and personal issues.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop strategies for behavior management and conflict resolution.
- Conduct academic advising sessions to help students set educational goals and plan for their future.
- Implement programs that promote cultural diversity counseling and inclusivity within the school community.
- Act as a liaison between students and child protective services when necessary to ensure child welfare.
- Facilitate workshops and seminars on topics such as stress management, peer relationships, and self-esteem.
- Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress while ensuring confidentiality.
- Engage with parents to discuss student concerns and collaborate on solutions.
Skills
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Experience in individual group counseling techniques tailored to diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of child protective services processes and child welfare regulations.
- Ability to manage conflicts effectively while promoting a safe learning environment.

- Understanding of cultural diversity counseling practices to address the needs of all students.
- Experience in academic advising to guide students in their educational journeys.
- Background in Christian counseling is a plus but not required.
