The Kerner Group is currently seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk for its Corporate Office location in beautiful Williamsburg, Virginia.

POSITION DESCRIPTION & OBJECTIVES: This position’s basic function is to support the Accounting Department with routine duties and non-routine duties with emphasis on accounts payable, general ledger management, all major account reconciliations, journal entry postings, service & project reconciliations, financial reporting, forecast and budgeting for various entities as well as special projects.
Position Duties: Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Daily monitoring and management of general ledger
- Monitor and review invoice exceptions from AP automation software
- Reconcile Purchase Card transactions with monthly statement
- Download and process recurring utility invoices
- Maintaining vendor database to ensure insurance and entity compliance
- Review and reconcile monthly vendor statements
- Prepare account reconciliations for general ledger accounts
- Prepare monthly journal entries
- Assistance with preparation of forecast/budgeting for various entities
- Miscellaneous research projects as assigned by the Controller
- Provide back up for other accounting positions
- Special Projects
- Review and post various weekly batches (inventory, billing, etc)
- Support the financial close by following up with Service group on billings, and open PO’s
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education in Accounting or related field preferred
- Minimum of two years of related experience in accounting.
- Computer Skills to include a high level of expertise using Excel and other Microsoft Office software. Previous experience using Microsoft Great Plains desirable.
- Ability to effectively communicate, understand, and carry out instructions in both written and oral format
- Analytical skills
- Regular and predictable physical attendance in the corporate office is an essential qualification for this position due to the importance of timing in completing assignments.

Pay: $22-$26 per hour
