Job Summary: The Youth Development Guide Assistant will play a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging, faith-based programs for children ages 3–12 during our summer camp (June 2 – August 8,2025). This seasonal position offers the potential for year-round employment in the fall. The role works closely with the Youth Development Guide Leader to ensure smooth operations, assist with program activities, and maintain a safe and supportive environment. Ideal candidates should have experience in a school, recreation center, church, or licensed daycare setting and a passion for holistic child development and faith-based care.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Support:
- Assist the Youth Development Guide Leader in planning and leading activities such as arts, STEM, fitness, Bible study, and life skills sessions.
- Prepare and organize program spaces before and after activities, ensuring materials are ready and spaces are clean.
- Supervise children during activities, snack times, and transitions, promoting safety and respect.
Child Supervision and Guidance:
- Support children's engagement in activities, helping them stay focused and fostering inclusion.
- Provide guidance aligned with the center's Christian values.
- Address minor behavior challenges, escalating to the Youth Development Guide Leader as needed.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Collaborate with the Youth Development Guide Leader and other staff to meet program goals.
- Assist in communicating with parents and guardians as directed by the Youth Development Guide Leader.
- Work with volunteers during special activities or workshops.
Administrative and Compliance Assistance:
- Help maintain accurate attendance records and track children’s progress.
- Ensure compliance with Virginia licensing and safety standards.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
Faith-Based Leadership:
- Model and encourage Christian values in all interactions with children, staff, and families.
- Assist with prayer, Bible stories, and other faith-based activities to support spiritual growth.
Additional Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Experience with childcare software (ProCare, Brightwheel, Microsoft Teams, Zoom) is a plus.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for family events and community outreach.
