Job Summary: The Youth Development Guide Assistant provides essential support in delivering engaging, faith-based programs for children aged 5–12. This role collaborates closely with the Youth Development Guide Leader to ensure smooth daily operations, assist in programming activities, and maintain a safe, nurturing environment. The ideal candidate has experience in a school, church, or licensed daycare setting and a strong commitment to the program mission of holistic child development and faith-based care.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Support:
- Assist the Youth Development Guide Leader in preparing and delivering activities, including arts, STEM, fitness, Bible study, and life skills sessions.
- Set up and break down program spaces before and after activities, ensuring materials are ready and areas are clean and organized.
- Supervise children during activities, snack times, and transitions, fostering a safe and respectful environment.
Child Supervision and Guidance:
- Support children’s engagement in activities, helping them stay focused and feel included.
- Provide guidance and encouragement aligned with the center’s faith-based values.
- Assist in addressing minor behavior challenges, escalating issues to the Youth Development Guide Leader as needed.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with the Youth Development Guide Leader and other staff to ensure program goals are met.
- Assist in maintaining strong communication with parents and guardians as directed by the Youth Development Guide Leader.
- Collaborate with expert volunteers during specialized activities or workshops.
Administrative and Compliance Assistance:
- Help maintain accurate attendance records and document children’s progress.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all Virginia licensing and safety requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Faith-Based Leadership:
- Demonstrate and encourage Christian values in daily interactions with children, staff, and families.
- Assist with prayer, Bible stories, and other faith-based activities that support spiritual growth.
Additional Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Experience with childcare software and collaborative tools such as ProCare, Brightwheel, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom to support program management and team communication.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for family engagement activities and community events, ensuring The King’s Kids YDC fosters strong connections with families and the surrounding community.
