Youth Leader

Job Summary:
The Youth Development Guide Leader plays a vital leadership role in fostering the holistic growth of children ages 3–12 within a faith-based, nurturing environment during our summer camp (June 2 – August 8,2025). This seasonal position offers the potential for year-round employment in the fall. The Leader oversees daily programming, guides staff and volunteers, and ensures that activities align with the center’s mission to serve children and families with Christian values. Ideal candidates will have experience in educational or childcare settings and a passion for integrating faith-based principles into youth development.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership and Implementation:

• Lead dynamic, age-appropriate activities in areas such as arts, literacy, STEM, fitness, Bible study, and life skills.
• Collaborate with expert volunteers to deliver specialized workshops and enrichment labs that inspire creativity and growth.
• Ensure all programming promotes spiritual, emotional, and social development in alignment with the center’s Christian mission.

Child Guidance and Supervision:

• Provide direct supervision, fostering a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment.
• Model positive behavior and implement strategies that support children’s growth and well-being.
• Address behavioral challenges with compassion, applying faith-based guidance and escalating issues as needed.

Collaboration and Team Coordination:

• Work closely with the Executive Director, Youth Development Program Administrator, and other staff to design and implement effective programs.
• Build strong, positive relationships with parents and guardians, promoting open communication.
• Support and mentor staff and volunteers, empowering them to contribute to the center’s mission.

Administrative and Compliance Duties:

• Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and child progress.
• Ensure activities comply with Virginia licensing regulations and adhere to program standards.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.

Faith-Based Leadership:

• Actively incorporate Christian principles into daily interactions and activities.
• Lead and support children in prayer, Bible stories, and discussions on moral development.
• Serve as a role model of integrity, compassion, and faith.

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Proficiency with childcare software (ProCare, Brightwheel) and collaborative tools (Microsoft Teams, Zoom) is a plus.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for family events and community outreach.

Qualifications:

• Experience in a school, church, recreation center, or licensed daycare setting.
• Specialized skills or certifications in areas such as arts, STEM, fitness, or child counseling preferred.
• Strong understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to the mission and values of a faith-based organization.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 38 per week
