What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dock Lead position at The Korex Corporation?
The Dock Lead is responsible for, but not limited to, overseeing and evaluating all activities of the dock and dock employees, ensuring safe and efficient loading and unloading of all freight. This position also provides backup to the Warehouse Manager. This position will require time spent both in the office and on the dock.
Essential Functions of the Job
- Oversees the daily workflow, and assignments of the shipping dock.
- Physically compare accuracy of inventory location, quality, and count.
- Verify label for accuracy.
- Identify and replace damaged pallets and/or product.
- Condense partial pallets of raw materials, components, and finished product.
- Physically group similar raw materials, components, and finished product together in specified storage locations.
- Perform computer inquiries in order to adjust, locate, ship, and receive inventory.
- Always use FIFO when placing material in racks or removing material from rack locations.
- Supervise hilo operators to ensure good manufacturing practices are used for the storage of raw materials, components, and finished product. - Direct hilo operators to repair or replace any damaged sacks which contain powder.
- Direct hilo operators torepair or replace any damaged cases of finished product.
- Direct hilo operators to use air hoses/brushes to blow off any dust/dirt from finished product before loading on a truck, and from components before delivery to the production floor.
- Direct hilo operators to add extra pallet for heavy sacks before putting in rack.
- Inspect trailers for cleanliness, leaks, or odors prior to loading/unloading.
- Guarantee thorough inspection procedures are followed for all raw materials, components, and finished product.
- Verify pallet pattern is accurate on all finished product.
- Verify case code is accurate and visible on all 4 sides of pallet.
- Responsible for overall cleanliness in the warehouse.
- Identify and resolve unsafe conditions.
- Wear safety glasses, and carry PPE all the time and ensure all warehouse employees do also.
- Ensure keys are taken from ALL drivers upon checking in.
- Verify that trailers are chocked, and the brakes are set prior to loading/unloading.
- Incorporate Korex safety policies and procedures into daily activities.
- Organizing/review all Hi-Lo Inspection Sheets.
- Scan out and review completed Get Tickets.
- Review filled/unfilled Get Ticket Screen.
- Review all Ship Scans for each outbound load.
- Print/reprint labels as needed.
- Log and review all Cycle Counts.
- Rework follow-up.
- Month End Inventory.
- Review receivers for each inbound load.
- Entering and reviewing Move Sheets.
- Entering and reviewing Adjustment Sheets.
- Preparing nightly reports.
- The worker is required to wear all safety protective equipment required by The Korex Corporation and/or the State of Michigan- Department of Labor.
- All other duties as assigned.
Skill/ Knowledge Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Must be trained up to back up warehouse manager
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic computer skills
- Minimum 3-year previous Hi-Lo experience
