SUMMARY :

The Operations Training Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of operations-based employee training encompassing a variety of areas such as equipment, operating processes and procedures, process improvements, and maintenance across multiple Rand-Whitney Container sites.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • The Operations Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the strategy, management, and administration of corrugated, converting, and maintenance training initiatives across all Rand-Whitney Container sites.
  • Plan and coordinate training schedules with plant General Managers and Operations team.
  • Establish Best Practices and develop new effective production techniques, training on the new techniques and their implementation in production. Maintain and update processes based on technical changes in the process.
  • Develop and implement trainings that align with the goals of the Continuous Improvement and Production teams
  • Collaborate regularly with plant General Managers to identify areas that would benefit from formalized training or changes to the current training curriculum
  • Trains operators on a variety of manufacturing processes at workstations and in the classroom, including, but not limited to processes, equipment operation (setup, operation, cleaning, troubleshooting), documentation handling, material handling, etc.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the operation of converting and corrugating machinery, prioritizing the safety and efficiency of operators and incorporate into training curriculum.
  • Develop criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of training activities.
  • Report regularly to leadership on opportunities, performance and results to ensure focus and alignment
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to identify areas for preventative maintenance opportunities
  • Travel between company sites for meetings and trainings as required.
  • Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities
  • SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, packaging, or related field required
  • 3-5 years of experience in a corrugated packaging manufacturing environment with at least 2 years in a training role required
  • Experience with Evol, Ward, Engico and Apstar converting machinery, and BHS corrugating machinery preferred
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to structure and advance multiple cross-functional initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to influence others to achieve results
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis on various topics and produce reliable metrics and data
  • High degree of flexibility, adaptability, and general ability to work within in a constantly changing environment
  • Must have attention to detail and focused concentration.
  • Must be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently.
  • Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Understanding of sustainability principles, issues and the methods with which sustainability can be integrated into business operations preferred

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud (80 dB).

  • Occasionally exposed to loud, moving mechanical equipment; high precarious places; vapors or corrosive chemicals; hot and cold; blood borne pathogens; and risk of electrical shock.
