Description

SUMMARY

The Junior Accountant is primarily responsible for processing the business's day-to-day financial transactions, including sales, A/R, A/P, and cash disbursements. This individual is also responsible for assisting with the preparation of certain month-end closing entries and supporting overall departmental objectives for the month-end closing. This position works closely with the customer support team on day-to-day operations as needed. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities including but not limited to:  o Research and respond to vendor and internal inquiries
    • Record transactions in recycling management software for billing and reporting o Responsible for updating and maintaining monthly market pricing
    • Verify the accuracy of vendor invoices, including applying pricing and other charges, and confirm the correct general ledger account codes are used in the accounting software suite
    • Ensure invoices for purchases and services are paid in accordance with vendor terms, have proper authorization and backup for review 
    • Generate A/P live check payments and ACH batches
    • Leveraging Excel skills to prepare, reconcile, and send monthly vendor statements 
  2. Assist with monthly financial closing process
  3. Provide support and backup to customer service as needed
  4. Process and maintain accounts payable documentation, general ledger journal entries, and other miscellaneous
  5. filings
  6. Special projects and assignments as business dictates
  7. Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPPA.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Associates or Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance, and/or a minimum of two years of business/accounting experience
  • Knowledge of accounting practices
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including proficiency in Excel
  • Possess the ability to problem solve by interpreting and applying information to various situations
  • Ability to thrive in a complex and fast-paced environment 
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Accurate, organized, with precise attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent time management, ability to prioritize
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Must have attention to detail and focused concentration
  • Must be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently
  • Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness
