What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Planner and Scheduler position at The Krusteaz Company?
Join our team as the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler! This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating facility and equipment maintenance repairs, inspections, and projects with maintenance technicians, engineers, and multiple departments within the company as well as outside vendors. This role will also oversee and directly participate with mechanical/electrical work teams to upgrade & install equipment improvements.
Essential Functions
Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.
- Reviews, researches, approves, and plans work requests.
- Schedules repair and Preventive Maintenance (PM) work orders including upgrade projects for equipment, sanitation, and facilities, while coordinating schedules of involved Maintenance Technicians, Production Team, and other departments. Interfaces with Production, Sanitation, Distribution, and Engineering departments, including execution of capital projects.
- Initiates purchase orders for materials, equipment, and services.
- Coordinates with Maintenance Department and outside service vendors for completion of work orders and PM’s, including Annual certifications for Production equipment.
- Works closely with the Maintenance Department team and Maintenance Parts Inventory Coordinator to ensure needed parts are available and kitted for scheduled maintenance work.
- Updates PM task lists and due dates and generates regular reports.
- Generates requested maintenance metrics for PM Pillar.
- Participates in maintenance breakdown (BDA) teams to address root causes of equipment or parts failures, including sourcing upgraded parts to eliminate breakdowns. Analyzes data to prioritize and solve repetitive issues.
- Reviews annual Safety certifications & qualifies outside service providers with Maintenance department managers & staff.
- Maintains Maintenance technical library including manuals, drawings, and electronic documents. Provides drawings and manuals as needed.
- Provides backup for Maintenance Parts Inventory Coordinator.

- Understands/reads technical drawings, blueprints, electrical schematics, machine technical specifications and material quality specifications.
- High level of demonstrated mechanical & electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Efficient work planning, organizational and time management organizational skills including the ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
- Understands and effectively uses computer software, including MS Office and other proprietary and database software, including Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for input planning & documentation of work progress.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Takes initiative to proactively identify and recommend improvements, solve problems.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent experience.
- 4 years of industrial mechanical and/or industrial electrical experience.
- 2-5 years of maintenance planning/scheduling preferred.
- Experience with computer maintenance management system (CMMS) preferred.
Attendance:
Consistently demonstrates regular and reliable attendance by reporting to scheduled shifts and appropriately managing the use of time off. Works overtime and alternative shifts as needed.

Follows procedures to ensure all food quality standards are met or exceeded. Must also produce quality work measured by efficiency, accuracy, and completion of both personal and company goals in a manner that embodies CM values and our culture of integrity, dignity, and respect.

Employees are required to conduct their work in a safe and legal manner, according to all GMP food safety standards as well as following all compliance and CM safety protocols. Employees must be willing to be responsible for their safety and health as well as the safety and health of all employees, vendors, and visitors.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Other physical abilities required of the employee is the ability to climb ladders with a Safety harness up to 65 feet high. The employee will also at times be required to list up to 50 lbs. The employee will need to certify on forklifts, boom lifts, and ariel scissor lift to access overhead equipment. Specific vision abilities include close vision requirements due to computer work. Moderate noise, ability to work in a confined area, and ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time are also included. Ability to effectively communicate and work in a dynamic environment.

Wage Information: An employee in this position can expect an hourly range between $30.51/hour and $48.81/hour. We typically pay out between $33.71/hour and $42.83/hour. The actual hourly wage offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including internal equity, experience, education, certification, training, and location. All positions are eligible for additional incentives based on business performance.
