Summary/Objective: The Assistant Safety Manager is a full-time position responsible for serving as a team leader in the Health and Safety department and ensuring the department creates accurate and timely records for the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Work closely with Safety Manager to promote safety, safe work practices and behaviors to instill an injury-free culture throughout all shop, site, and field personnel.
- Assist Safety Manager with the implementation and administration of the company’s accident prevention plan, policies and procedures. Including safety resources such as training, expertise, and guidance.
- Assist in identifying, correcting, and mitigating routine and non-routine safety and health hazards.
- Ensure company and client safety reports and documentation are submitted in a timely manner and in accordance with client requirements and expectations.
- Council and coach workers to gain compliance with the accident prevention plans, policies and procedures.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential safety health hazards.
- Conduct job site inspections and periodic audits to establish and evaluate the level of compliance.
- Responsible for investigation and evaluation of losses or potential losses for the project site.
- Convey a professional and positive attitude as the safety representative.
- Evaluate and approve safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Acts as a safety educator and facilitator.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 2 – 5 years of experience in construction or safety related field.
- OSHA 10 certified required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Viewpoint software a plus.
- Action Oriented.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work well in both independent and in a group setting.
- Strong Written and Oral communication skills.
- Travel Required.
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction or safety preferred.
- Viewpoint software knowledge.
- OSHA 30 certified preferred.
- Additional OSHA Certifications.
- EM-385-1-1
- Bilingual in Spanish.
Physical Demands:
- The ability to bend, walk, stand, hear, and speak as necessary in various terrains where the job is located.
- Prolonged periods of standing and working outside under all weather conditions.
- Physically able to perform assigned tasks.
- Must be able to lift 50 – 75 pounds at a time.
Work Environment: This job operates in and out of the office. Most frequently, the job will be outdoors in all weather conditions and will require frequent travel to job locations.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000 annual depending on experience level.
