Assistant Safety Manager

Summary/Objective: The Assistant Safety Manager is a full-time position responsible for serving as a team leader in the Health and Safety department and ensuring the department creates accurate and timely records for the organization.

Essential Functions:

• Work closely with Safety Manager to promote safety, safe work practices and behaviors to instill an injury-free culture throughout all shop, site, and field personnel.
• Assist Safety Manager with the implementation and administration of the company’s accident prevention plan, policies and procedures. Including safety resources such as training, expertise, and guidance.
• Assist in identifying, correcting, and mitigating routine and non-routine safety and health hazards.
• Ensure company and client safety reports and documentation are submitted in a timely manner and in accordance with client requirements and expectations.
• Council and coach workers to gain compliance with the accident prevention plans, policies and procedures.
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential safety health hazards.
• Conduct job site inspections and periodic audits to establish and evaluate the level of compliance.
• Responsible for investigation and evaluation of losses or potential losses for the project site.
• Convey a professional and positive attitude as the safety representative.
• Evaluate and approve safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Acts as a safety educator and facilitator.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum 2 – 5 years of experience in construction or safety related field.
• OSHA 10 certified required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Viewpoint software a plus.
• Action Oriented.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work well in both independent and in a group setting.
• Strong Written and Oral communication skills.
• Travel Required.

Preferred Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction or safety preferred.
• Viewpoint software knowledge.
• OSHA 30 certified preferred.
• Additional OSHA Certifications.
• EM-385-1-1
• Bilingual in Spanish.

Physical Demands:

• The ability to bend, walk, stand, hear, and speak as necessary in various terrains where the job is located.
• Prolonged periods of standing and working outside under all weather conditions.
• Physically able to perform assigned tasks.
• Must be able to lift 50 – 75 pounds at a time.

Work Environment: This job operates in and out of the office. Most frequently, the job will be outdoors in all weather conditions and will require frequent travel to job locations.

Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000 annual depending on experience level.
