Organization Overview: The Laurel Center is dedicated to making a positive impact on our community by providing essential services and support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. We rely heavily on fundraising to sustain our programs and services, and we are seeking a Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts.
Position Overview: The Director of Development will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving and special events. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop fundraising goals and strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals
- Identify and cultivate major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors, planned giving and special events
- Networks with community members and groups to increase awareness of organizational funding needs and to develop new donors
- Researches, writes and develops grants
- Cultivates volunteers and recognizes their successes and achievements
- Provides management oversight to Community Outreach Coordinator to execute effective volunteer communications and strategies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, finance, marketing or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience, with a proven track record of success in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving and special events
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members and volunteers
- Ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds and culture
- Experience with fundraising software and donor databases
