The Laurels of Defiance Careers seeks a skilled Nurse Educator and Infection Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a Staff Development Coordinator and Infection Control Nurse RN, you will play a vital role in educating nursing staff and preventing infections.
About the Role
This position is responsible for designing educational programs on all shifts and for all departments. You will participate in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observing employee performance. Additionally, you will provide general facility orientation to new employees and ongoing in-service education. Your expertise will also be utilized to ensure Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)/State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA) meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
Infection Prevention Responsibilities
As an infection prevention nurse, you will monitor healthcare-associated infections, assess infection prevention problems, and make recommendations for corrective action. You will also initiate, review, and revise infection prevention policies and procedures as needed. This role requires consultation with department heads and physicians to improve care and follow-up on employee/resident exposures to communicable diseases.
Requirements
1-3 years of experience in long-term care setting preferred.
