Job Description
The Staff Development Coordinator acts as the educator for The Laurels of Defiance, conducting orientation and providing other in-service educational programs for the nursing staff. This position is the backup to the Director of Nursing. Key responsibilities include designing educational programs, participating in staff evaluations, providing facility orientation, ensuring CNAs/STNAs meet in-service requirements, actively participating in quality assurance, and reporting concerns to supervisors. As an infection prevention nurse, you will monitor healthcare-associated infections, assess infection prevention problems, and make recommendations for corrective action.
Required Skills and Qualifications
1-3 years of experience in long-term care setting preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role. You will work closely with department heads and physicians to improve care and follow up on employee/resident exposures to communicable diseases. Knowledge of infection prevention principles and practices is required.
