Staff Development Coordinator
The Staff Development Coordinator is an educator who conducts orientation and provides in-service educational programs for nursing staff at The Laurels of Defiance. This role also serves as the backup to the Director of Nursing position.

Responsibilities
- Designs, plans, and delivers educational programs on various shifts and departments
- Participates in staff evaluation by providing attendance records and observing employee performance
- Provides facility orientation to new employees and ongoing in-service education
- Ensures Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)/State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA) meet annual 12-hour in-service requirements
- Actively participates in quality assurance and reports concerns to supervisor
Infection Prevention Nurse Responsibilities
- Monitors healthcare-associated infections
- Assesses infection prevention problems and recommends corrective actions
- Initiates, reviews, and revises infection prevention policies and procedures
- Consults with department heads and physicians to improve care
- Follows up on employee/resident exposures to communicable diseases
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in long-term care settings preferred
