Job Description
The Staff Development Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of excellence in The Laurels of Defiance. As the primary educator, this individual designs and implements comprehensive educational programs for nursing staff, ensuring seamless onboarding and ongoing development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, planning, and delivering training sessions on various topics to promote staff knowledge and skills.
- Participating in the evaluation process by providing attendance records and observing employee performance.
- Providing general facility orientation to new employees and conducting in-service education sessions.
- Developing and implementing a monthly and annual schedule of planned education programs.
- Ensuring Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)/State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA) meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
- Actively participating in quality assurance and reporting concerns to the supervisor.
As an infection prevention nurse, you will be responsible for monitoring healthcare-associated infections, assessing infection prevention problems, and making recommendations for corrective action. This includes:
- Conducting outbreak investigations and initiating control measures.
- Reporting communicable diseases to the state as required by law.
- Providing educational offerings for orientation and ongoing inservices.
- Consulting with department heads and physicians as needed to improve care.
- Initiating follow-up on employee/resident exposures to communicable diseases.
