Qualifications
- Candidate must have experience with both wound care and infection prevention
- Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by resident response to treatment and evaluate overall plan effectiveness
- Requires valid RN/LPN license, CPR card, and must pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and physical
Responsibilities
- Perform wound assessment, reassessment, and management for all residents per policy
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and disorders of the dermal system
- Utilize principles of current wound management theory when providing care to residents with acute and chronic wounds
- Develops skin care program to prevent skin breakdown of residents
- Integrates research findings to clinical practice
- Knowledgeable of surgical procedures and postoperative course of resident undergoing surgery
- Able to adequately assess and reassess pain
- Educate residents and family regarding pain management
- Serve as a resource person to physicians, nursing, and other clinical staff
- Provide in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence for the nursing staff
Qualifications for Treatment Nurse
- Licensed Nurse with experience in wound management
- Maintains current CPR certification
