About the Role
This key position will serve as the educator for our facility, conducting orientation and in-service educational programs for nursing staff. Additionally, you will be responsible for designing systems to prevent or control infections based on surveillance reports of infections and infection potential among residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver comprehensive educational programs on all shifts and for all departments.
- Participate in staff evaluations by providing attendance records and observing employee performance.
- Provide general facility orientation to new employees and ongoing in-service education.
- Develop and implement a monthly and annual schedule of planned education programs.
- Ensure Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)/State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA) meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
- Actively participate in quality assurance and report concerns to supervisor.
- Monitor healthcare-associated infections.
- Assess infection prevention problems and recommend corrective action.
- Initiate, review, and revise infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Conduct outbreak investigations and initiate control measures. Report communicable diseases to the relevant authorities as required by law.
