Cleaning And Sanitizing
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors regularly.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Empty waste receptacles and dispose of trash.
- Sort and recycle materials according to school policies.
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
- Strip, wax, and buff floors as needed.
- Shampoo carpets and rugs.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and toiletries.
- Inform supervisors of any supply needs or equipment malfunctions.
- Report maintenance issues, damages, and needed repairs promptly.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and fixing minor plumbing issues.
- Assist with set-up and clean-up for special events, meetings, and activities.
- Arrange furniture and equipment as needed.
- Monitor and report safety hazards and security concerns.
- Ensure that exits are clear and accessible.
- Perform seasonal tasks, such as snow removal and salting during winter.
- Assist with landscaping duties during warmer months.
- Coordinate with other custodial staff to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Communicate effectively with school staff and administrators.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Follow school policies and procedures related to custodial tasks.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment.
- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
