In the role of a Custodian, you will be essential in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our facilities. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will utilize your core skills in cleaning, janitorial, and custodial experience to ensure high standards of cleanliness. Your expertise in floor care and commercial cleaning will be vital in upholding our organization's commitment to excellence. Under the direction of the Lead Custodian or other assigned staff, the Custodian will perform all tasks associated with cleaning and maintaining the facility and grounds Also demonstrates a commitment to YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
- Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
- Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools.
- Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments
- Secure building when facilities are not in use
- Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
KNOWLEDGE – SKILLS - ABILITIES:
Experience: 0-1 year experience performing custodial duties.
Working Conditions: Moderate lifting and physical effort required for cleaning
Equipment Used: Brooms, mops, scrubbers, vacuums, buffers, ladders
Education: CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days .
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $8.50 - $9.25 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 29 per week
