Job Summary:
The Director of Childcare is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operation of the childcare center. This includes ensuring compliance with state regulations, providing a safe and nurturing environment for children, managing staff, overseeing curriculum implementation, and maintaining strong communication with parents and guardians. The Director plays a key role in creating a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the childcare center, including scheduling, enrollment, and facility management
- Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations and health/safety standards
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate childcare staff and educators
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and educational programming
- Maintain accurate records for children and staff as required by licensing agencies
- Monitor classroom activities to ensure a high standard of care and education
- Build positive relationships with families through regular communication, meetings, and involvement opportunities
- Assist in managing the center’s budget, including tuition collection, payroll, and expenses
- Conduct regular staff meetings and ongoing professional development
- Promote the center’s programs and maintain enrollment targets
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in childcare with at least 2 years in a leadership role (preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of childcare licensing regulations and best practices in early childhood education (preferred)
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills (required)
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing budgets and administrative tasks
- Familiarity with curriculum models such as Creative Curriculum, Montessori, or Reggio Emilia
- Ability to use childcare software or management system

Pay: $48,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year
