Position: Legends Summer Camp Assistant Director
Location: Legacy Center Sports Complex – Brighton, MI
Duration: Part-time Seasonal
Compensation: Hourly, $20-$23/hr
Position Summary
As the Summer Camp Assistant Director, you will be the on site go-to person for everything related to the Legends Summer Camp Program. This includes but is not limited to assisting in the development of weekly plans/curriculum and overseeing/facilitating the day-to-day operations of camp. Your job will include many responsibilities, all with the objective of creating a positive and fun camp experience for up to 120 campers per week. You will help lead staff in organizing and executing age-appropriate recreation activities for campers.
The Summer Camp Assistant Director must be at least 25 years of age. Previous experience working in a camp setting and/or working with kids and other adult staff is preferred. This person must be dependable, prompt, outgoing, loud, fun, enthusiastic, responsible, patient, organized and level-headed. These qualities are necessary to create a fun and safe experience for our campers.
Camp Assistant Director Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of camp curriculum.
- Work with campers and supervise coaches and camp staff.
- Communicate daily schedule and any relevant information with camp staff.
- Conduct, set-up and assist with daily camp activities including sports, crafts, games etc.
- Greet families and campers upon arrival and maintain daily attendance.
- Ensure all check-in/check-out processes/procedures are followed on a daily basis.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding camp schedule/reminders/disciplinary issues/incidents etc.
- Maintain emergency guidelines and safety procedures for campers and staff.
- Facilitate daily camp schedule/activities.
- Prepare activities in advance, create an equipment/supply list of items needed.
- Manage any issues that may arise including camper behavior issues, parent complaints, etc with the help of the Summer Camp Director
- Ensure campers and camp staff follow safety procedures at all times.
- Communicate and coordinate with the Summer Camp Director as needed to provide the highest quality summer camp experience for Legends Summer Camp families.
- The ideal candidate would be available every summer and interested in moving to the Director position in the future.
Camp Staff Schedule/Hours
- Camps begin the week of 6/9 and runs through 8/28
- Mon-Thurs from 8:00A-5:00P
