Legal Aid seeks a Diversity and Inclusion (DEI) Program Manager who is responsible for implementing Legal Aid’s DEI Plan while fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse organizational culture. Reporting to the Director of Diversity, People, and Culture, this role ensures the effective execution of DEI initiatives by collaborating with staff, managers, supervisors, and the Board DEI Committee. Acting as a liaison between employees and management, the DEI Program Manager provides expertise, guidance, and support on DEI practices and policies, driving Legal Aid’s commitment to equity and belonging. Responsibilities will include:

DEI Plan
  • Co-creates Legal Aid’s DEI Plan with the Director of Diversity, People and Culture in partnership with Board Committee and staff members.
  • Leads creation of key
  • Leads implementation of Legal Aid’s DEI Plan.
  • Conduct periodic DEI assessments to support Legal Aid’s progress and interpret firm’s DEI maturity assessment.
  • Provides the Legal Aid board and staff with regular reports to on DEI Plan implementation and progress toward DEI goals.
  • Designs and executes initiatives that promote a diverse, inclusive and equitable work environment.
  • Provides input on policies in pursuit of DEI goals.
Staff Education and Support
  • Designs, facilitates, and tracks success of internal development programs (such as Employee Resource Groups and Peer Mentoring Groups
  • Seeks input from staff in creation and execution of DEI initiatives
  • Serve as resource to staff on issues of DEI
Support Supervisors and Managers
  • Provides guidance to supervisors and managers regarding DEI practices and initiatives
  • Collaborates with the DEI Committee, Directors, and Managing Attorneys (“Management”) to support and advance DEI practices, policies and initiatives
  • Designs and implements DEI training program for supervisors and managers
  • Serve as a conduit between employees and Management on DEI practices and policies
Team
  • Cross-trains on critical HR functions and provides support to other team members
  • Mentors Diversity, People & Culture Team members to use DEI best practices in policy and program development an implementation

The Successful Candidate will possess: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or commensurate experience required.
  • Minimum 7 years of direct DEI leadership experience.
  • DEI certification from accredited facility preferred.
  • Experience creating and/or overseeing ERGs preferred.
  • Experience working in a union environment, in a legal services and/or non-profit environment preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of employment laws, practices, compliance, and legal requirements.
  • Strong technology skills, including MS Office, Windows, and databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including attentiveness to cultural needs and differences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail required.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively handle multiple tasks.
Compensation & Benefits: The salary range for the DEI Program Manager is $75,000 to $112,000 DOE.  The top third of Legal Aid’s salary ranges are reserved for those with deep skill sets, long tenure, and consistent exceptional performance. In addition, Legal Aid offers an exceptional benefits package including healthcare, life and disability insurance, and retirement savings plan with up to 13% employer contribution.
