Position Description: The Accountant will utilize their expertise to support leadership in the forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes in addition to participating in the day-to-day financial operations of Lighthouse Mission Ministries (LMM). The duties of this broad and varied role include completing daily accounting operations, tracking capital campaigns, processing payrolls, and managing compliance and records. The position would be responsible for maintaining high levels of confidentiality, aiming to improve operational efficiency, and promoting continued financial wellness.
Compensation to include: Company Paid Benefits, Employee Assistance Program, 403(b) Contribution & Match, and PTO.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in the budgeting and audit processes
- Conducts financial analysis and recommends benchmarks
- Produces and reconciles financial documents and reports; ensures reports comply with appropriate standards
- Provides expertise to the the Advancement Department in relation to Capital Campaigns
- Provides streamlined R&E report for Administrative Team, Board of Trustees, and LMM Foundation Board of Directors
- Assesses and updates accounting processes to take full advantage of emerging financial technologies
- Oversees and conducts daily accounting operations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation
- Coordinates expense reimbursements and runs monthly payroll for all staff
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government regulations
- Responds to requests from staff
- Contributes in all-staff and department level meetings
- Maintains a positive, pleasant, and professional Christian attitude. Works with other staff to model transparent and supportive Christian relationships, which will serve as a leadership example for shelter guests.
- Oversees, encourages, and trains volunteers and interns as needed
- Embraces and uses LMM’s grace-based accountability philosophy
- Provides Christian devotionals and prayer in group settings
- Any other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor
Organizational Relationships:
- Works independently and collaboratively with other team members.
- Represents LMM to vendors and outside agencies in the course of daily work.
- Reports directly to the Chief Infrastructure Officer.
Qualifications:
- Agreement with the Lighthouse Mission’s Statement of Faith and adhere to the Life & Personal Covenant, as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- A passion for serving Jesus and making the Gospel known through mercy ministry. The successful candidate will have an active church/prayer life.
- 5 Years of professional experience in Accounting with a demonstrated ability to take on progressive responsibility
- College level course work in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field; degree or certification strongly preferred.
- Other combinations of education and experience that provide the candidate with the necessary qualifications may be considered.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks Online and Third-Party Connectors)
- Expertise in the use of computers including the Google and Microsoft Suites
- Advanced problem solving skills, knowledge of best practices and research techniques
- Possess independent judgment skills and the ability to take initiative
- Ability to interact effectively as a team member and to work independently Effective interpersonal communication skills

- Ability to report as regularly scheduled to the work site
- Execution of a confidentiality agreement
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment background screenings.
