JOB SUMMARY: The Bartender at The LineUp is responsible for preparing and serving beverages including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options according to company standards and recipes. This role also involves delivering food and beverage orders to guests, following established steps of service. The ideal candidate creates a welcoming, professional environment while maintaining cleanliness and organization in the bar area to ensure exceptional guest experiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare drinks, pour beer and wine, and serve wine/champagne according to company recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all drink recipes and menu offerings.
- Take guest orders, promote food and beverage options, deliver items, and ensure timely service and table maintenance.
- Properly enter and close guest checks using the point-of-sale system and handle payments accurately.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with servers, barbacks, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
- Complete opening, closing, and side work duties; maintain cleanliness in all service, prep, and storage areas.
- Engage with guests, anticipate service needs, and resolve any concerns using positive communication and service recovery techniques.
- Secure and manage personal cash bank, complete cashier reports, and ensure all transactions are correctly processed.
- Stay informed on all menu items, garnishes, liquor brands, and non-alcoholic beverages including descriptions and presentation standards.
- Understand and apply knowledge of table numbers, layouts, hours of operation, dress code, and other operational standards.
- Prevent over-service of alcoholic beverages and manage guest intoxication responsibly.
- Demonstrate sound judgment when addressing difficult or intoxicated guests.
- Work safely with team members to lift and transport heavy items, maintain a hazard-free environment, and follow cleaning protocols.
- Follow company policies, safety guidelines, and OSHA standards, including proper use of cleaning agents.
- Promptly report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management.
- Complete all required safety training and maintain confidentiality in accordance with company policy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Strong knowledge of liquor, beer, and wine brands and products, including popular cocktails and proper garnishing.
- Minimum age: 18 years old (to legally serve alcohol in the State of Hawaii).
- Experience in using a point-of-sale system is required.
- Must be able to obtain a valid State of Hawaii Liquor Commission card.
- CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 23 years of experience as a bartender in a high-volume or upscale environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs comfortably and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and reaching throughout shifts, both indoors and outdoors.
- Must follow safe lifting practices and work collaboratively to transport heavy items.
