What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School English Teacher position at The Link School?
High School English Teacher
Part-time Position (20-30 hours per week)
The Link School is seeking an imaginative, compassionate, and practiced classroom teacher to
instruct high school English classes beginning Fall 2025.
The Link School is a high school for students who are seeking an experiential education in an
environment where Christian Science is lived and demonstrated on a daily basis. The purpose of
the school is to help students “…find the indissoluble spiritual link which establishes man
forever in the divine likeness” (Mary Baker Eddy).
As a teacher at The Link School, you will work with curious, kind students, each growing along
their own trajectory; you will collaborate with talented teachers and dedicated residential staff;
and you will draw connections between teaching content and the world outside of the classroom
– all on our beautiful mountain-side campus in Buena Vista, Colorado. Between classes, you
might find yourself leading a snowball fight, joining a lunchtime dance party, or diving into a
powerful discussion about the meaning of stewardship.
Teachers at The Link School enjoy autonomy and the opportunity to implement creative ideas in
their classrooms. At the same time, teachers are diligent, focused, prepared, and purpose-driven.
The blend of creativity and professionalism makes for a rewarding workplace. Teachers receive
ready support from attentive, present administrators. Additionally, teachers are actively
encouraged to maintain work-life balance and inspiration for the classroom through paid prep
periods and regular time off while students and program staff are on expeditions.
The English teacher at The Link School is a vital member of our core teaching team. English is
taught in two, leveled classes (~6-8 students/class) that follow traditional 9/10 or 11/12 high
school English curricula. Class periods last 55 minutes Monday-Thursday, and 30 minutes on
Friday. English students read and learn from full-length texts (contemporary and classic novels,
short stories, nonfiction works, plays, and poetry). Students compose daily written responses,
persuasive essays, and creative writing pieces that align with the texts being studied. Class
periods–spent responding to the primary text in writing, paired work, small group discussions, or
whole class discussions–are lively and engaging.
